The Medici Polaroids

These Polaroids were seized by the Swiss police in 1995, who took general views.

The Italian Carabinieri have used some of the images to force museums and collectors to return
items depicted in them to Italy. Some images show that items are covered in dirt and appear to have
been freshly excavated, and therefor be illicit, looted archaeological material stolen from the ground.

Other images may be licit, neither looted nor stolen, with genuine lengthy collecting histories and to
have passed through Medici's hands perfectly legitimately as part of his licit antiquities trade.
